Westlake and Eanes ISD has been a part of my life for over 40 years. My wife, Mary Ann Baker, retired from Eanes ISD after teaching for 21 years at Cedar Creek Elementary. I have two sons, whom I am extremely proud of, who graduated from Westlake High School. Both were excellent students and great athletes who lettered in soccer and football. Both went on to play football at the University of Texas. Jeff is a lawyer in Dallas, and James teaches and coaches right here at Westlake with his wife Ashley who also teaches here.
I actually retired at the end of the 2012 school year, but when they called and asked me to come back I couldn't refuse. So, I'm a part-timer now.
I also volunteer my time assisting the Westlake Technical Entertainment -Video Crew. This is an outstanding group of students and staff who produce a weekly TV Football Broadcast. I oversee the graphics and animations that run on TV and in the stadium on the video board (Jumbo-tron)...well not that jumbo, but it's pretty cool! It also gives my art students a place to showcase their talents as well.
In the past I worked for Eagle Applied Science, LLC as an animator. We were working on a series of animations for NASA's Robonaut (R2). Maybe you will soon see these animations on the Discovery Channel. It could happen...
I truly enjoy working with students and watching them develop into gifted artists. Many of these students go on to have a professional career in Art. Check out the tab, "Former Westlake Art Students and their Work", at the top of the page and see a few of the talented students working as professional artist.
